One foot in front of the other
Every now and again this site is allowed to come over
all evangelical in general terms about the simple act of putting one foot in
front of the other.
Walking means different things to different people: for some,
and I’m usually of this ilk, it means lonely sojourns in beautiful places,
maybe with just a friend or two for company. For others it’s a social thing –
you join rambler groups or guided walks and have a happy shared day out
following a route that someone will have researched and walked before. Read on...
Westcountry Walks photographs. We've also been
approached by many walkers who want to take photographs while on
their hikes, but who don't want to carry a bulky camera. It's a
bit of a trick, says Martin Hesp, because while you want to carry
something lightweight, you also feel that the scenery deserves the
best images you can capture.
At the moment Martin uses the FujiFilm FinePix S9500 which he
says is the best marriage when it comes to lightweight and quality

Latest walks: Hartland Point Where the Westcountry hunches its massive shoulder to the wilderness of the waves.
Bere Alston The banks of the Tamar and the magnificent railway viaduct. A surprisingly private place.
Halsway The views stretch for miles across Britain's most beautiful ridge of hills.
Malpas-Tresillian There is something about gaining access to a place by boat - something poetic and other-worldly.
Loe
Pool Everything about Loe Pool is enigmatic
and the place can take on an altogether mysterious air.
Pentewan

Westcountry Walks provides free downloadable hiking
routes with detailed write-ups from all over the South West peninsula.
To make the site easier to use we have divided the region up into
the seven areas displayed on the map.
The walks first appeared in the Hesp's Hikes column
of the Western Morning News. All have been designed and walked by
journalist Martin Hesp and each should be easy to follow if you
are armed with the relevant Ordnance
Survey map.

This website is growing rapidly - over one hundred
walks and many complementary articles at an average rate of
two per week. Our viewing figures are doubling every month.
It is becoming a veritable encyclopaedia of walks and general
information about the region.
Each walk offers fantastic advertising opportunities to
local businesses large and small across the region.

advertise, contact Jude by telephone: 01984 640058 or 07880
